The Disaronno legend starts in 1525, during the Renaissamce period of Italy's history. Artist Bernardino Luini, a brilliant pupil of Leonardo da Vinci - was commisioned to paint a fresco of the Madonna of Miracles in Saronno.A beautiful local innkeeper was chosen as his muse. As a mark of gratitude she prepared the artist a special gift of a flask of an amber liqueur, fragrant and delicate.
