Tasting Note: “This fruit continues to capture that cool climate Grampians Shiraz in the way that the Northern Rhône puts its stamp Syrah. White pepper, olive, sage, tart blue fruits and smoked meats make up this wine’s DNA. This year it was that great moment between maker and fruit that made this Shiraz one of the best wines to date.” – Sierra Reed
Winemaking Notes: Best’s Sugarloaf Creek Vineyard – Hutton and Dalberti Blocks. The Grampians is such a magical place to grow Shiraz and this vineyard captures that so well. Vineyard manager Robin Kuchel takes care of this site in the way I have nurtured my daughter through her first years of life and it has made all the difference. I look forward to many more years of making beautiful wine from Sugarloaf Vineyard. 3,000 litres in total, handpicked, wild fermentation, aged in large format old French oak, ⅓ whole bunch, unfined and unfiltered.
