The Hazelburn 15 Year Old Oloroso Cask Matured (2022 Release) is a highly sought-after, limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky produced by the legendary Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland.

Unlike the distillery's core peat-influenced offerings, Hazelburn is distinctively triple-distilled and completely unpeated, resulting in a much cleaner, creamier, and more refined spirit. This specific 2022 expression was distilled in December 2006, matured entirely for 15 years in fresh (first-fill) Oloroso sherry casks, and bottled at a robust cask strength of 54.2% ABV with a limited run of just 9,000 bottles worldwide.

Tasting Notes

Because the clean, triple-distilled Hazelburn spirit lacks heavy peat or heavy sulfur, it integrates remarkably well with intense, fresh Oloroso casks, yielding a massive "sherry bomb" profile balanced by classic Campbeltown character:

Nose: Intensely aromatic with zesty orange, tangerine, and rich dark chocolate fudge. Deeper notes reveal salted hazelnuts, fruit cake, wine gums, and a hint of musty dunnage warehouse.

Palate: Thick and syrupy mouthfeel. Initial bursts of red apple and cinnamon sugar give way to milk chocolate, hard toffee, leather, and baking spices like nutmeg, with an underlying hint of cigar box.

Finish: Exceptionally long, warming, and slightly drying. It leaves lingering flavors of gingerbread, dark chocolate-covered raisins, ground black pepper, and a touch of coastal brine.
